NEXT LEVEL: Climb deliberately

What's next? It is an age-old question that many of us have asked ourselves. What's next after this? What's next after I graduate? What's next after the children leave to start their own lives? What's next after the honeymoon? What's next after the vote? What's next after the breakup...the hook-up...the results? What's next after COVID-19?

We spend a lot of our time looking for what's next. So much so, that we often neglect to live in the moment. We forget that we are not promised a next, but we have the assurance of a now. When we focus on our now, we are assured as well that we are being prepared for what is next moment. Think about it. In order to secure the next foothold, you have to have careful footwork, balance, and body positioning before making the next move. The climb is always going to take you up, but it is careful and deliberate (and often silent) footwork that provides the appropriate control a climber needs to ascend.

I encourage you today to take careful and deliberate steps toward your next level. At no matter what stage of life we find ourselves in, we each have a next level. Jesus calls it "life more abundantly." (John 10:10)

Keep climbing.
